Scratched Timber Rub over the marks with the flesh of a walnut. Woodwork Cleaner Clean with cold tea or mayonnaise. Water Marks/Rings on Timber Clean with a mixture of baking soda & toothpaste. Timber Polish 1 Mix 1 tbs each of turpentine, linseed oil & vinegar (or lemon juice). Pour all of the ingredients into a jar and shake. To use, apply to a well rinsed cloth. Work into small areas at a time. Leave for 30 minutes & then polish with a clean cloth. This mixture doesn't keep well, so only mix enough for the job you need to do. Timber Polish 2 Mix 3/4 cup olive oil with 1/4 cup of vinegar. You can also add some lemon oil to this mix for a refreshing scent. Timber Polish 3 Mix the juice of one lemon with a tsp each of water & olive oil. Apply, then allow to rest 5 minutes before buffing out. General Floor Cleaner In a bucket of hot water, mix in 1 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup washing soda & 1 tbs of liquid soap such as dishwashing liquid. Scuff Marks on Flooring Make a paste of baking soda & water. OR Rub with lighter fluid. Also removes crayon marks & chewing gum. Top Shoe Care Shoe Deodoriser 1/2 cup Cornflour, 1/4 cup Baking Soda, 20 drops each of Lavender & Tea Tree (or Eucalyptus) oil & 10 drops of Lemon Grass oil Mix all of the ingredients into a jar. To use dust feet with the powder & rub in 1 - 2tbs into each shoe & allow to sit overnight. OR Mix 1/2 cup of baking powder with 12 - 15 drops of sage oil in a jar. To use simply rub rub powder onto your feet & sprinkle some into your shoes & leave overnight. Foot Deodoriser Add a cup of tomato juice to a foot bath. OR An infusion of parsley. Deodorising Foot Bath In 4 litres of warm water, mix 1/2 cup each of Epson salts & vinegar. Top Baby Care Baby Wipes 1 Into 2 cups of water, mix 1/4 cup of baby lotion or lanolin lotion, 1/4 of baby oil &1/2 cup of baby bath. Mix together & pour over a de-cored roll of paper towels. Store in an airtight container. Wipes can be pulled from the centre of the roll. You can add some lavender &/or tea tree oil also. Baby Wipes 2 2 cups of water, 1 tbs baby shampoo or baby bath, 1/4 aloe vera gel (use the pulp straight out of the leaf) & 5 drops each of lavender & tea tree oil Stir well & pour over paper hand towels. I use Viva or Handy Ultra towels folded in half & stored in an ice cream container. They soak up more of the liquid but they don't tear very easily. Store any leftover liquid in the fridge. Baby Oil 1/4 cup of almond or apricot kernel oil blended with 10 - 15 drops of lavender oil. Top Pets Dog Morsels 2 cups Whole-wheat Flour, 2 cups Plain Flour, 1 cup Powdered Milk, 1/2 cup Lard 2 - 3 tsp Garlic Powder or 1 - 2 cloves of crushed Garlic, 2 eggs & enough water to make a rollable dough. Mix all of the ingredients together. Roll the dough onto a floured board & cut into shapes. Then bake at 180c for approx 15 minutes or until brown. Dog Casserole (does not contain dog) 500gms diced meat, 2 cups of mixed vegetables (such as potato, carrot, beans, broccoli celery etc), 2 tbs gravy powder & water. Place all of the ingredients into a casserole dish with enough water to cover the meat & vegies. Cook at 180c until meat is cooked. Cat Biscuits 1 1/2 cups Rolled Oats, 1/2 Plain Flour, 1/2 Fish Oil, 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil & 1 tsp Garlic Powder or 1/2 clove of garlic crushed. Mix all of the ingredients together, and then using your hands roll into little biscuits. Place on a greased baking tray & bake at 180c for 20 - 30 minutes or until browned. Fishy Cat Dinner 100g (or there about) tin of Tuna in oil, 1 cup cooked Rice, 1 tsp powdered Garlic 1/2 cup Water, 1 tbs Olive Oil & 1 - 2 Eggs. Over low heat stir in whole tin of tuna, water, oil, garlic & eggs. When the egg has started to set, remove from the heat & stir in the rice. Catmint Tea Let a few catmint leaves permeate in a cup of warm water, then serve to your precious moggie. Bird Veggie Bell Smear some honey on a bit of vegetable such as broccoli, celery, rolled up lettuce leaves, etc then sprinkle with bird seed & hang up in their cage. Pinecone Feeder Smear some peanut butter on a pine cone, wedge some pieces of fruit, such as apple in some of the grooves & sprinkle with bird seed. Seedpops 1/2 cup each of seed mix, dried fruit & chopped nuts, 1 lightly beaten egg, warm sticks (warmed in the hot sun is great, otherwise an oven for 5 or so minutes) & honey Mix all of the ingredients together except for the honey. Then make rolls out of the mixture & wrapping them around the sticks. Place the seedpops onto a lined baking tray and bake for approx 25mins at 200c or until the seedpops are toasted, then brush them with the honey. Return them to the oven for a further 5 minutes. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container. Rodent Bickies 1/2 cup each of oats, whole-wheat flour & rice milk, 1/3 cup crushed nuts 1/4 cup each of molasses (or treacle) & berries, 1 tbs cooking grade oil. Leaving aside the berries, mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl & the wet ingredients in another. Then combine the 2 together. Next fold in the berries. Spoon small amounts (1/2 tsp) of the mixture onto a lined baking tray & bake for approx 20 minutes at 180c. Top Miscellaneous Dirt Marks on Suede Rub-out with an art-gum eraser then buff gently with a fine emery board. Air Deodorisers Place a bowl of charcoal, kitty litter pellets, baking soda, vinegar, lemon slices in water or vanilla essence on your bench to help eliminate odours. Basic Waterproof Glue 15gms Gelatine, 120mls Hot Water, 2 tbs Vinegar, 2 tsp Glycerine Mix the water & gelatine until the gelatine has dissolved, then add the vinegar and glycerine. Store in an airtight jar. This mix will 'set' after several days. To re-use just stand the jar in a bowl of hot water. Good for paper - paper, fabric - cardboard, leather - leather, etc. Top
