By now your child will be comfortable with a huge variety of foods. There are so many choices available, you would hope you will never hear them say that they are bored with what they are eating. Let them know that the adventure with food hasn't ended! To help them experience new tastes, you could perhaps have food theme nights once a week, fortnight or month. help your child Choose a different type of food for that occasion. It could be simply trying a new vegetable such as turnip, or a full cultural experience by having an Italian, asian, German, Irish, French, Russian, Spanish, Indian...oh the list is endless! There must be something out there that is destined to be the next family favourite!
Your child's nutrition is important to their overall health. Proper nutrition can also prevent many medical problems developing including obesity, weak bones & diabetes. It will also ensure that your child physically grows to their full potential. How much you actually eat depends on your age and activity level. On average School age boys and girls require about 1600 to 2400 calories each day, During a growth spurt girls require an additional 200 calories and boys 500 calories.
One way To help keep lunches interesting is by varying the type of bread you use - wholemeal, multigrain, rye, white, etc. There are also many different types of rolls & international breads available such as pita, lavash or flat breads rolled around fillings. Pocket bread is great filled with a salad! Mix up a few different types of loave together for extra interest! A thermos flask of soup is a warming change on those chilly school days.
