Immunisations

These start from the very first day with the Hepatitis B vaccine to protect us from some diseases that were once common, dilapidating and even fatal. Some of these diseases are still know to harm people in 3rd world countries. I know there are so many questions about immunisations...too many to list here. 4 Mths	Diphtheria-Tetanus-Acellular -Pertussis vaccine (dose 2), Oral Poliomyelitis vaccine (dose 2), Haemophilus Influenza type b (dose 2), Hepatitis B
6Mths	Diphtheria-Tetanus-Acellular -Pertussis vaccine (dose 3), Oral Poliomyelitis vaccine (dose 3), Hepatitis B (can be given at 12mths)
12 Mths	Mumps-Measles-Rubella (dose 1), Haemophilus Influenza type b (dose 3) , Hepatitis B (if not given at 6mths
2 Years	Pneumococcal (Ask your Child Health Nurse or doctor whether your child qualifies for a free vaccine from Pneumococcal. Otherwise cost is $150 per shot. 3 shots required over time.
4 Years	Diphtheria-Tetanus-Acellular -Pertussis vaccine (dose 4), Mumps-Measles-Rubella (dose 2), Oral Poliomyelitis vaccine (dose 4)
10 - 13 Years	Hepatitis B (for those that have not receive an appropriate course of the vaccine previously) To be repeated 4 - 6mths after 1st dose.
15 - 19 Years	Tetanus (boosters 10 & 20 years after primary course), Diphtheria (booster), Pertussis (booster)
65 Years +	See your doctor to discuss what vaccinations you may require.

Meningococcal C vaccine is free to all children 12mths & under as of 2003, under the National Immunisation Program. Over the next 4 years it is also available free of charge to all 19yr olds and under.
